I had a Sony Portable CD player years ago before it got stolen. It was sturdy but had some mechanical noise. It also had an integral battery.
This one is made of plastic, and has no mechanical noise. It also uses replacable AA batteries. I haven’t used it enough to see what the battery life is, but I use rechargeable batteries, so replacing the batteries won’t be as costly.
As long as I’m using a CD case, the total space used will be much less that the equivalent time that cassettes take up.

The cd walkman is probably one of the better ones on the market right now.It worked well for two gifts and they were needed.The cds play fantastic on it and the radio works well unlike some that are refurbished.

I bought this summer 2008 from Target. I’ve dropped it many times and the cd player continues to function. Although one of the drops killed the radio. The earphones that came with it were uncomfortable, so I boughtSkullcandy S5LWBZ-BC Lowrider Headphone, (Black/Chrome) a nicer set.
Unfortunately, you can’t turn the skip protection off and I believe this is what sucks down batteries like a barely 21 year ancient drunk girl sucks down shots at ladies’ night. What, you thought I was going to say something dirtier? Nah. Also I kinda wish the battery compartment wasn’t under the cd itself, I’d like to change them out without taking the cd out. I will buy a different cd player soon, it’s pretty banged up.

The only thing I did not like was that I had the same exact one before, and I paid less at the store than on Amazon.
